In Tajikistan when people want to say something pleasant they say "As handsome as a poet", "As wise as a poet". There is some poetic in the nation's blood and nature. Tajiks have very rich literary heritage. These are their names: Rudaki, Firdavsi, Nosir Khisrav, Saadi, Hafiz, Kamoli Khujandi, Abdurahmoni Jomi and many other stars in the bright poetic world. So the stream of poetry couldn't dry up today as many ages ago.
There are names which became classics of nowadays: S. Aini, A. Lohuti, M. Tursunzoda, M. Mirshakar, B. Rahimzoda, S. Ulughzoda, J. Ikromi, R. Jalil. Poets and writers of latest period are A. Shukuhi, F. Muhammadiev, M. Kanoat, L. Sherali, B. Sobir, U. Kuhzod, Gulrukhsor, A. Hakim, and A. Samadov. The list may be continued.
There are famous producers of the films in Tajikistan, whose names are well-known not only in Tajikistan, the names of B. Kimyogarov with its film serials on "Sohnoma" by Firdavsi, T. Sobirov, D. Khudonazarov, B. Sadikov, B. Khudoynazarov's films make a person suffer and take what is on to heart feel keenly what happens with his heroes.
Tajikistan is also famous for its libraries. The oldest National Library is named after Firdavsi. There are hundred thousands of books published by "Irfon", "Adib", "Matbuot" and "Tajik Encyclopedia" publishing houses and million copies of papers and magazines preserve.
The Republic of Tajikistan has presidential form of state government according to the Constitution.
The President is the Head of State, Government and Commander - in Chief of the all Armed Forces.
On November 6, 1999 Emomali Rahmonov as a result of nationwide election became the President of Republic of Tajikistan for seven years.
Majlisi Oli (the Parliament) is the Supreme representative and legislative organ of Republic of Tajikistan. Majlisi Oli consists of two chambers - Majlisi Namoyandagon and Majlisi Milli. The term of office of Majlisi Oli is five years.
Majlisi Namoyandagon is elected on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot functioning on permanent and professional basis.
After the disintegration of the USSR the range of sovereign states were appeared within postsoviet space. The Republic of Tajikistan as sovereign state was set up on September 9, 1991. For the first time after 1100 years of creation of Samanid State Tajik people found its sovereign state again.
But the further development of internal political situation led to civil war and its tragic consequences. The state suffered and was damaged with human sacrifices. The process of formation of sovereign and democratic state was broken.
The XVI Session of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Tajikistan held on November 1992 became turning point of the history of new Tajikistan.
In spite of certain difficulties beginning from the historic XVI Session of the Parliament the leadership of Tajikistan headed by E. Rahmonov persuade a course of peaceful settlement of internal
problems.Intertajik negotiations under the mediation of the UN began in Moscow on April 5, 1994 in full swing of military operations of conflicts and were finished by signing of General 
agreement of peace and national Consent in Tajikistan on June 27, 1997. This it is stored unique experience of solution of conflicts and establishment of peace and national conciliation.The international Symposium on the subject of "Historic Experience of Peacemaking in Tajikistan" which held in Dushanbe on April 2001 was devoted to this problem.
The present foreign policy of Tajikistan is based on the foundation and development of mutual benefit of equal rights and contacts with all states, contribution for strengthen of peace and international security. Tajikistan aspires to develop trade and economic cooperation with the states of region and the world.
Now there is going the process of renewal and structural reconstruction of economy, reforms of bank system and tax, privatization is developing. Tajikistan comes forward for accelerated to development of foreign economic
